The Spreeforest and the "Slawenburiz Raddusch" (Slavecastle
Raddusch)
The "Slawenburg Raddusch" in Brandenburg
is circa 100 kilometres southern from Berlin situated. lf you
go by car, you have to drive on the freeway A-15 Berlin/ Forst,
exit Boblitz or Vetschau. Or you go by train from Berlin to Cottbus.
The "Slawenburg Raddusch" is situated in the territory,
where the slavestribe named "Lusizi" settled. The Sorbian
minority, which is still alive, are the descendants of the "Lusizi".
The castle, which was build 1000 years ago, is still in the old
style but the interior decoration is styled in a modern way with
huge floor spaces, function rooms, gastronomy and a castle shop.
Furthermore they proffer an audio-visual guided tour in Polish
and English language. In addition to the entrance fee is about
4 Euro. Moreover they have a special pedagogy for the kids, to
introduce them into the historical and archaeological themes.
Near the eastle arises a big swimming pond out of a former strip
mine. The village Raddusch belongs to the city Vetschau and is
a more ideal starting point for touristic tours into the Spreeforest,
a huge glacial lagoon landscape. You can go by canoe or a typical
tub watching our amazing nature. But also a coach ride is popular
and commendable. lf you are in the Spreeforest you have to take
a visit to the beautiful village Burg, with many traditional buildings
and the new an modern salt therme called "Spreewaldtherme".
Furthermore in Raddusch there are questhouses, 2 hotels and rental
shops. And if you are looking for an information centre, you have
to go to the industrial park in Raddusch, were you can also find
a workshop and a maze.
